Annual Celebration Of Lights Set For Friday In Poughkeepsie
The 24th annual Celebration of Lights in the River District in Poughkeepsie is happening this Friday. Come kick off the holiday season with a parade, tree lighting and fireworks.
Keep your eyes peeling for the new WRRV van in the parade that kicks off at 6:30 on Main Street up by Garden. We'll have a set up out in front of Noahs which is a great place to watch the parade and tree lighting from. You have a clear shot of the fireworks from there too.
There's also an opportunity to help those in need by bringing a non perishable food item which will be donated to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley by the Foodstock crew.
A toy drive is currently underway at each of the six River District establishments. Stop in with a new unwrapped toy and those donations will help underprivileged kids right in Poughkeepsie.
- Amici's Italian Restaurant
- The Brown Derby
- Caffe Aurora
- Mahoney's
- Milanese
- Noah's Ark
Donations will be accepted Friday as well, simply drop them off by the Christmas tree in Dongan Park.
At 8:00 PM after the fireworks, The Bardavon will have the classic film Princess Bride on the big screen for just 6 bucks.
