Celebrate Walk In the Park Day On These Hudson Valley Trails
National Take A Walk In The Park Day is March 30, 2021. Thankfully, spring has arrived and we can enjoy all that mother nature has to offer. Within the Hudson Valley, I find joy in adventuring on new trails and sites. As for today and the rest of the week, get active and head on out for a relaxing walk.
Franny Reese State Park, Highland: This park was named after Frances also known as “Franny” Reese who helped preserve parts of the Hudson Valley. This trail is super neat since it starts off on a historic road and allows you to pass by an older estate on the way. From this path, you can also see the Mid Hudson Bridge and Walkway over the Hudson. Check out more info here.
Poets' Walk Park, Red Hook: I love the grounds on this site. Between the trees and stone walls, this property feels like a step back in time. There’s the idea of Washington Irving and how he came up with the actual idea of Rip Van Winkle as he enjoyed looking at the Catskill Mountains. and You have the option of bring your dog for a walk, picnicking and wildlife watching. Click here for park location.
Esopus Meadows Preserve, Ulster Park: This nature park has two different options for trails, choose between the forest views or riverside. Either trail leads up to the Hudson River Greenway Water Trail. In addition to walks, there the chance to kayak, canoe and fish. Be sure to bring a drink and snack as you approach a resting area in the middle. Find out more here.
Have you ever been on these trails? Be sure to get out there and enjoy the day.
