Are you already dreading winter? If you don't make a lot, you might be able to get some help making sure that your home is ready for the winter. This week Governor Cuomo announced that there would be $59 million available across New York to help low income families get their homes ready for winter.

The Mid Hudson Valley will get just under $4.5 million of these funds. The monies can be used to conduct an energy efficiency audit on your home and then help (but not limited to) air sealing, adding insulation, upgrading your heating system. The audits can also be used to identify hazards in your home, including carbon monoxide and mold. These repairs to your home could help to save you on winter heating bills.

How can you find out if you qualify? To start it all goes by income, with recipients needing to be earning less than 60% off the NYS median income.
