In remembrance of the New York icon, let's celebrate some of his more memorable bits of wisdom.

Despite his nearly unbelievable baseball resume (15 All Star appearances, 3 MVP awards, and 10 World Series. TEN! And three more in his coaching career!), Yogi Berra was as known for his Yogi-isms as anything else.

Since he wore the number 8, let's go with that number. Here are my 8 favorite Yogi quotes:

  1. "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore."
  2. On popular restaurants: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
  3. "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."
  4. "I usually take a two-hour nap from 1 to 4."
  5. "Never answer an anonymous letter."
  6. When asked for the time: "You mean now?"
  7. "Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical."
  8. "Always go to other people's funerals. Otherwise they won't go to yours."

Regardless of what team you root for, Yogi was an absolute treasure to the game of baseball and to New Yorkers. It's hard to imagine someone having a more full, interesting 90 years on this planet.
