Someone had the time to sit down and do research about how "Family members over-share on social media".

Here's what the brain trust at University of Michigan discovered:

Twenty-first century parents are still learning the ins and outs of social media etiquette. The University of Michigan conducted a survey of parents with kids age four or younger, and found that over three-quarters say they've seen another parent share too much about their kid online.

"Sharenting". The practice of a parent to regularly use the social media to communicate a lot of detailed information about their child.

Seven out of the ten parents say they worry about their child's privacy.  Almost 70 percent say the idea of someone they don't know re-sharing a photo makes them feel uncomfortable.  Half are looking into the future, saying they're worried their child may be embarrassed about what they chose to share.  Many young parents look to social media for guidance, however.  Over 70 percent say sharing their parenting experience online makes them feel less alone.
