A Newburgh, NY fire department recently took to Facebook to thank a national organization for a thoughtful donation. The items could come in handy not only for first responders, but for nearly any pet owner in the Hudson Valley as well.

Most animal owners agree that there's no length too far to go for their pet. From keeping them safe from predators to knowing when it's legal to keep our furry friends outdoors, there's plenty of factors to consider. The "Fido Bag" can help with something just as serious.

FIDO Bag Donation to Newburgh, NY Fire Department

"Thanks to the thefetchfoundation.com for the Fido Bag that was recently donated to Cronomer Valley Fire Department (CVFD)", came the post from a local Newburgh, NY fire department. The donation came after a highly-publicized rescue of an adorable family dog.

Dog Rescue in the Town of Newburgh, NY

On September 1st, the CVFD reported a heartwarming story of first responders freeing a local dog named Champo from the leg of a chair (above and below). While the majority of the CVFD's work focuses on humans, the new donation is specifically meant to aid patients of the canine persuasion.

What Are FIDO Bags?

FIDO bags are emergency kits specifically made for first responders to treat animals after rescuing them from a fire. The bags, which can contain items ranging from oxygen tanks and masks to leashes, collapsible water bowls, and training videos, are meant to give animals a better chance of survival after an emergency.

The Fetch Foundation works on a donation system, with an "Essential FIDO Bag" requiring a $125 donation and a larger "Professional K9 Handler FIDO Bag" costing $250. The bags can then be donated to fire departments of the donator's choice, like the CVFD.
