
Video: Escalator Fire Disrupts Morning at JFK Airport
On Wednesday, July 24, an escalator fire at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City caused significant disruptions.
Fortunately, all injuries were non-life-threatening.
This incident follows a challenging weekend for air travelers, as a technological glitch had already caused delays for thousands of flights. The back-to-back disruptions added to the frustration and inconvenience for many passengers.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey released a statement advising travelers to check in with their airlines for the latest updates on flight statuses.
The airport also posted updates on its social media account, informing the public that operations had resumed and advising travelers to stay informed about their flights.
Nearly 1,000 people were bused to other parts of the terminal where operations continued without interruption.
The swift response by the fire department and airport authorities helped manage the situation and ensure the safety of all travelers
