You've heard of the "crazy cat lady." It fits a specific niche, a role within our society. It's become an archetype. What used to be an "old maid" or a "spinster" (not that those are necessarily pleasant or anything short of mean-spirited terms) is now a cat lady.

Usually, you think fairly docile individuals fit the criteria. Homebody types, a whole lot of tea drinking and sweater wearing is involved in what we have come to accept as the stereotype of the cat lady. Certainly, we don't think of what you might find on WWE Raw or something. Violent outbursts and assaults aren't the first thing that pop into your head when you think about cat ladies.
