Help: What is this Strange Insect Found in the Hudson Valley?

I had never seen these before. My first chance meeting them was this past weekend. My first encounter was less than pleasant. What the heck are these things?

Many of us let our laundry pile up and we take care of it at the end of the week. I was spending the weekend at my girlfriend's apartment and she has a laundry facility in the basement of her building. When I looked in the washer machine I was surprised by a bug I had never seen before.

What the heck are these things? It's almost like a cross between a cricket and a spider? They bounce around like crickets. I've never seen them. Are they harmless? Any information would be helpful.

These things are everywhere and I don't like it one but. After reaching out online, some people have responded saying that they are called cave crickets.

I don't dwell in a cave. Why are they bothering me?
