You shouldn't have to spend $100,000 to give away a 100 Grand candy bar but here we are.

Inflation and high prices didn't stop people from having a good time this Halloween as they spent a record high for the holiday this year. Halloween doesn't get the same love as Christmas when it comes t spending but it might be pretty close. Between buying decorations, pumpkins, candy and costumes there is nothing about Halloween that is cheap.

I don't know what it is but there's something about the holidays that brings out the consumer in most of us.

How much did you spend on Halloween this year? I spent well over $200 on costumes and accessories for my family. I'll be honest. I went way over budget but it was totally worth it.

Then I spent almost $40 for candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters. No one forces me to participate. I just want to eat a little candy and have a good time on one of my most favorite holidays. I did all of this knowing that in a few weeks I'll be kicking myself for spending that much.

It turns out that I am not the only one who spent a ridiculous amount of money on Halloween this year. WWLP reports that Americans spent far more money this year on the holiday than last year. According to their recent reports, Americans spent over $12 billion on the holiday. Last year it was an astonishing $10 billion.
