Hudson Valley Breweries Collab on ‘Black is Beautiful’ Beer
Breweries across the world have come together to create a new beer in honor of the Black Lives Matter movement.
1,037 breweries from 20 countries and all 50 U.S. states are participating in a new collaborative beer. The beer is called Black is Beautiful and is an Imperial Stout. The mission of the beer is to bring awareness to racial injustice, according to the website. The base for the beer was created by Weathered Souls brewery in Texas. Beer is brewed by an African American Head brewer and co-owner Marcus Baskerville. The beer is described as:
A collaborative effort to raise awareness for the injustices people of color face daily and raise funds for police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged.
The collaborative beer is asking participating breweries to donate 100% of the beer's proceeds to local foundations that support police brutality reform and legal defenses for people who have faced racial injustice. They ask that the causes they support are local organizations that support equality and inclusion. Finally, they also ask that the breweries that participate commit to long-term work of equality.

Two Hudson Valley breweries have decided to join the cause and collaborate on the beer. Industrial Arts in Garnerville and Captain Lawrence in Elmsford have both collaborated on the Black is Beautiful beer. These are two of the 38 New York breweries that are participating.
