Anticipation was high for the arrival of professional football in the Hudson Valley. The FXFL is an experimental league, one that's less a traditional league and more of a four-team crop of guys who have the potential to play at the professional level and need a platform to show their skills.

The league's relationship with the NFL allows any of the players to essentially get "called up" to the highest level of the sport at any time. This relationship is what has led to the cancellation of the final game of the Fort's season, with this explanation from the organization:

With the NFL trade deadline approaching, it's best to avoid further play and to make available as many healthy players as possible for NFL member clubs," said FXFL Commissioner Brian Woods.

"Accordingly, we have decided to eliminate the final game scheduled for Friday, November 6th in Hudson Valley. We know our fans will appreciate the reasoning behind our decision and we look forward to a return to the Hudson Valley for the 2016 season.
The Fort's season has not been without troubles; there were reports of players and members of the coaching staff not being paid, with the coach resigning early in the season. Other troubles in the league include a team from Ohio folding before the first game of the season was played.

Per the team: Anyone with tickets to Friday's game may contact the Renegades front office at 845-838-0094 or stop by Dutchess Stadium prior to December 7 to receive a refund or credit that can be applied towards 2016 Renegades tickets.

Let's hope this doesn't prevent the team from returning next season and growing professional football here in the Hudson Valley.
