Fast-Food Giant ‘One Step’ Closer to Opening New Location in the Hudson Valley
A popular name in fast-food is moving closer to replacing a former Red Lobster location in Kingston, NY.
For as long as I can remember, residents in the Hudson Valley have been hoping and pleading with the fast-food gods to bless the Hudson Valley with a new Chick-fil-A restaurant. There have been numerous rumors (many started by us...LOL!) suggesting that Chick-fil-A could be opening a new restaurant in various locations, including Kingston, Fishkill, and Poughkeepsie, NY.
It appears that the days of wondering if the Hudson Valley will ever get another Chick-fil-A restaurant could be coming to a close, as new information suggests that it is happening in Ulster County, NY.
Chick-fil-A Opening a New Restaurant in Kingston, NY?
Back in February, we learned that the Town of Ulster Planning Board received an application to redevelop the former Red Lobster located off Route 9W at 1 Miron Lane in the Town of Ulster. The redevelopment plans, which included adding a new Chick-fil-A restaurant with a drive-thru, were later shared on the Town of Ulster Town Clerk Facebook page.
"At the February 11 monthly planning board meeting, Chick-fil-A made application to our planning board for redevelopment of the former Red Lobster restaurant at the corner of Route 9W and Miron Lane in the town of Ulster. No construction timeline has been set."
At the time, the post was shared hundreds of times as fans of the fast food giant began to get excited that Chick-fil-A was expanding in the Hudson Valley, but many wondered when it would happen.
Chick-fil-A "One Step" Closer to Opening
According to Hudson Valley One, the Ulster Town Board took one step closer to approving plans for the new Chick-fil-A restaurant last week after announcing that it had unanimously approved looking into the environmental impacts of the redevelopment. HV1 first reported that the town has "adopted the short form Environmental Assessment Form (EAF) Part II and Directing Preparation of Part II for the proposed 5198-square-foot fast-food restaurant."
The town board will lead the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) to determine what environmental impacts a project will have on the proposed site and the surrounding area.

After the unanimous approval, Ulster Town Supervisor James E. Quigley stated,
