A man in the U.K. is trying to stay away from French fries after learning that his stomach turns carbohydrates into alcohol.  Nick Hess tells the BBChis wife and friends were worried he might be a secret alcoholic, but they eventually decided his sudden drunkenness must be caused by something other than one too many beers.

Even though he had not had even one sip of alcohol, no one believed him. According to the BBC, even his wife would searched the house looking for hidden bottles of booze.
“I thought everyone was just giving me a rough time, until my wife filmed me and then I saw it – I looked drunk.”  Nick Hess, BBC.Com
After a trip to the hospital, Nick was diagnosed with auto-brewery syndrome, which means he has an excess amount of yeast in his stomach that turns carbs into alcohol in his blood.
