Have you ever been wanting to catch a train, but were running late? You were pretty sure that you could swing getting to the train station, getting parked and then getting on board, but that extra two minutes it might have taken to purchase your ticket BEFORE you got on the train, somehow that skips your mind.

Good news. Governor Cuomo is "encouraging" Metro North to be up and running with the ability to purchase your train tickets (one way, round trip, 10 trip, etc) all on your smart phone, using which ever credit card you prefer. According to a MTA press-release, this feature should start to be available in some areas with-in 6 months, with full use by the end of 2016.

Ever wish that you could plug your phone into a USB port while you are on the hour plus ride into or out of NYC? This is also a feature that Governor Cuomo is encouraging the MTA to establish. The MTA has said that by 2018 this feature will be available on most Subway cars, along with improved WI-FI and cell service.

Great that MTA is working on these changes, but will this mean yet another increase in train fares?
