In addition to moving the clocks ahead an hour this weekend and inching closer to Spring, we've found another reason to celebrate...National Cereal Day.

I don't know about you, but sometimes, there's nothing more satisfying than a giant bowl of cereal.  Some may call it lazy, while I see nothing wrong with cereal for dinner every now and again (or more often than I should actually admit).  With the cereal choices that line shelves these days, seasonal flavors, limited edition varieties, the options really are endless.

According to the official 'national cereal day' website, which happens to have an awesome history lesson on some of our favorite cereal icons, we also learned that in earlier days, cereal was considered a remedy:

the invention of breakfast cereal was founded on the fact that the American diet of the mid 1800's was a poor one packed with protein, booze and caffeine. Or maybe it’s not so strange. After all, cereal was considered a remedy – a sort of 19th-century health or wonder food for the ailing masses.

It's fairly easy to celebrate the holiday, join in on the fun through social media - @CerealDay on twitter, or the #cerealday hashtag, and show off what's in your bowl.

I'm kind of boring when it comes to my cereal choices, no judgements, but Special K and Rice Krispies come in at the top of my list, and not far behind, a less healthy option, Cap'n Crunch.  Most of the time, though, the Cap'n Crunch doesn't even make it to the bowl, just from the box, by the handful...

Are you part of the 49% of the population that begins their day with cereal, and if so, what's your go-to choice?  Also, where do you stand when it comes to mixing cereals?
