In what can only be described as a herculean effort from an outside perspective, the massive community center project at Chadwick Lake park in the Town of Newburgh, NY has turned another corner.
It's hard to decide which is more impressive, the sheer size of the building that has been constructed on a former outdoor fitness park and hockey rink, or the fact that the project seems to be very much on schedule.
Big Plans for Town of Newburgh Community Center
When plans for the new building were first announced, the timeline was met with some pushback. Originally scheduled to begin in the fall of 2024, crews broke ground in June instead, a move that officials said was necessary to ensure construction could continue through the winter.
Early Start for Community Center in 2024 Leads to Progress in 2025
While the early start disrupted Chadwick Lake's annual summer camp, it seems like the move is now paying dividends, as the 13 month project described by Town of Newburgh Councilman Scott Manley looks nearly complete (at least from the outside) 12 months in.
Details of Chadwick Lake Park Community Center in Newburgh, NY
Photos from just six months ago (below) show a skeleton of a building that now looks nearly move-in ready. Reports share that the hulking structure will be large enough to house multiple courts for basketball, volleyball, soccer, pickleball, and more.
While an official start date has not been shared, a source close to the project says they are hoping to have the project finished by August (an earlier date that an estimate of "early fall" shared earlier in the year).
