What Happened? Another Newburgh Waterfront Restaurant Has Closed Its Doors
In what is unfortunately feeling like a semi-regular experience, another restaurant on the Newburgh waterfront has announced their final day of business.
In Orange County, the Newburgh waterfront has been a prime destination for years, with staples like Billy Joe's Ribworks and Blue Pointe bookending a scenic bike and foot path that runs along the Hudson River. Recently, however, the businesses have been changing.
Restaurant Closures on the Newburgh Waterfront
In the last 12 months, several restaurants have shuttered their doors. In September 2024, Jet Set Tiki Bar announced their closure after opening the year before. Then, Italian restaurant Toni Rigatoni's closed just months after replacing Jet Set.
Primo Waterfront Closing in Newburgh, NY
This week, Primo Waterfront announced that after four years of business, the restaurant would be hosting their final day of food service on Sunday September 28th 2025. In a heartfelt post (below), owners shared their perspective of a 4-year stint they called "amazing".
Business news in Newburgh, both on the waterfront and further inland, has been bittersweet in recent months. While exciting ventures like a second location for a celebrated Hudson Valley Jamaican restaurant on Liberty Street has been celebrated, the closings of the abovementioned restaurants are a sobering reminder of the difficulties of the restaurant industry.

While Primo Waterfront may be closing, owners promised it was more of a "goodbye for now" than a final farewell. News on their future plans, as well as the new owners of 50 Front Street, will be shared as soon as they're available.
