Well maybe not EVER ever, but this resource will definitely help you to plan ahead for optimal trick-or-treating this year.

Gone are the days of trying to figure out if that house in the neighborhood will actually be giving out candy this year. With the advancement of technology these days, there's pretty much an app for everything, so it should not come as a surprise that there's something out there to help the kids prepare for their best Halloween haul this year, while also allowing you to simultaneously let the neighborhood know that you'll be giving out treats (or maybe tricks).

Community App Helps Trick-or-Treaters Plan Ahead

When someone mentions the (free) Nextdoor app (or website) to you, chances are you remember using it to get a recommendation for a plumber, or got some sort of email notification about a safety situation in your neighborhood, but did you know that it can also be used as a tool for Halloween prep?

Once again, Nextdoor has launched their interactive 'Nextdoor Treat Map' where locals can indicate their plans for the upcoming spooky and sweet-tooth loving holiday. You can find out pretty easily which houses in your neighborhood are participating in trick-or-treating ahead of the big day on 10/31.

Treat Map 411

After logging in to the Nextdoor app and scoping out my neighborhood and surrounding areas, I found some helpful information to pass along. Some of the people who have pinned their house on the treat map have provided fun details like what decorations to look out for, hints on types of candy they'll be hanging out. Others are using the app and map to let trick-or-treaters know the best way to navigate their driveway, if they have pets to be aware of at the house, or where their front door is located.

While it's still early and there aren't a TON of houses on the treat map, i'm sure that as we get closer to Halloween, more and more little pumpkins will pop up in the neighborhood.

From Nextdoor...

When you pin your home to the map, your neighbors will see your first name and last initial, pin location, and how you're planning to celebrate.

Nextdoor also provided some helpful Halloween tips like bringing a flashlight, wearing clothing with reflective fabric or tape, and always recommends trick-or-treating in a group, never alone.

Here's to plenty of treats with a few tricks and even haunts sprinkled in.
