An overnight blaze in Kingston, NY has destroyed a home and sent at least one first responder to the hospital.

Residents expressed gratitude to the professional firefighters who responded to the fire just minutes after the call was received at 12:58 a.m. on Friday, May 2nd. Details shared by the department shed light on both the fire's damage and danger.

Overnight Housefire in Kingston, NY

Though the flames were extinguished in less than 30 minutes, the smoke and fire were damaging enough to displace multiple residents from their home on Cedar Street in Kingston, NY. From the City of Kingston Fire Department:

At 12:58 a.m., the Kingston Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke in a multiple-unit apartment house on Cedar Street. While units were responding, reports of a possible fire were received... Multiple civilians were displaced by the fire [and] the Ulster County Department of Emergency Services and the American Red Cross worked to arrange temporary housing for those affected.

3-Alarm Fire in Kingston Sends Firefighter to the Hospital

The 3-alarm fire also caused undisclosed injuries to a firefighter, who was sent to a local hospital for evaluation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
