The Red Hook Police Department and the Red Hook Fire Company were part of the multi-agency response after they say the vehicle left the road "for unknown reasons", hitting a telephone pole.

Emergency Rescue After Fiery Crash in Red Hook, NY

First responders are trained for a multitude of emergencies, including crashes where the driver is trapped inside the vehicle. The RHPD reported that the subject was rescued with specialized equipment after the flames were extinguished:

The impact rendered the driver unconscious and entrapped within the vehicle which subsequently caught fire. The Red Hook Fire Company extinguished the fire and the jaws of life were used to extricate the driver.

Photos shared in the RHPD's post (below) show the extent of damaged caused to both the telephone pole and truck by the impact and fire. Gratitude also was extended to Red Hook Fire Company, Tivoli Fire Company, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, and Central Hudson for their assistance.

Multi-Agency Response to Red Hook Vehicle Crash

While first responders are constantly receiving emergency calls, this week has felt particularly active in the Hudson Valley. In Dutchess County, crews responded to a car that crashed into a local Taco Bell, and in Ulster County, the City of Kingston Fire Department shared that they responded to 72 calls over Father's Day Weekend alone.
