Mother nature caused quite a bit of havoc after dropping inch after inch of snow across the Hudson Valley on Sunday and Monday (and even a surprise dusting on Tuesday afternoon as well). While some areas across the Hudson Valley recorded up to 30 inches of snowfall during this last storm (crazy, we know), much of the area is still trying to dig out and figure out where to pile all this snow.

New York State was operating under a state of emergency with several counties announcing travel bans. The minimal traffic on the roads included DOT and private plow operators working around the clock, as well essential staff and first responders.

One particular town's first responders are receiving well-earned praise after coming to the rescue of an 85 pound dog named Aria, who unfortunately found herself in a scary situation during the storm.

LaGrange First Responders, Highway Department Bring Stuck Dog To Safety

In a Facebook post on the official LaGrange Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3813 page, the story of a successful dog rescue that took place during the storm was shared, with an emphasis on the community showing what teamwork looks like during a winter storm.

When a dog became trapped inside a culvert pipe, members of the LaGrange Professional Firefighters and the Town of LaGrange Highway Department responded quickly and worked side by side in winter conditions to bring the situation to a safe ending. Through teamwork, patience, and a whole lot of determination, they were able to successfully rescue the dog and reunite it with its family.

A culvert pipe is usually installed underneath roads or driveways to allow water flow without causing a disruption to traffic flow.

The post garnered a great deal of attention and engagement from the community, with nearly 1K likes and more than 50 comments of appreciation and praise, and even received some well deserved coverage from the local news network.
