A man with the last name of Jeter allegedly fled police in Ulster County, crashed his car, ran on foot, and was in possession of drugs.

State Police at Ellenville arrested 33-year-old Jason E. Jeter, of Ellenville NY for criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration, misdemeanors.

Tuesday, State Police attempted to make a vehicle and traffic stop for failure to signal in the Village of Ellenville. Police say Jeter failed to comply with the officers and a short vehicle pursuit ensued.

After allegedly committing several vehicle and traffic violations and driving in a reckless manner the vehicle chase ended after Jeter crashed his car into a parked car and then into an embankment.

Jeter then is accused of leaving his car and leading Troopers on a foot pursuit. He was shortly caught and arrest.

A search of Jeter’s vehicle allegedly revealed a quantity of cocaine.

Jeter was arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court and was remanded to the Ulster County Jail on no bail. Jeter was ordered to return to the Village of Ellenville Court on June 16.
