Police Trained CT K-9 Still in Pound Two Years Later
Ok, so the Christmas holidays might not be the best time to adopt a dog, but this one is very special. Not only because the dog has been specially trained, but because she is going to need a special home. This little one (or not so little one) is going to need a home that is as special as she is.
Here is her story. Flash, a German Shepard mix, was found as a stray two years ago and taken to the pound. It was noticed that she could have special skills, so early on she was trained to be a police dog. According to another media outlet she was trained in narcotics detection and suspect apprehension.
After her training, she was all set to take a position in Texas, but with the economy the way it is (not just for people, but for dogs too) the Texas police department decided to go with another dog, one closer to them.
Since then, Flash has been at the pound waiting for her fur-ever family. Yes, she does have a few idiosyncrasies that are particular to her, but with a patient owner who knows that there will be a few weeks of adjustment, there is no reason that Flash cannot have what she really wants for Christmas. Her forever (fur-ever) home.
