It's finally upon us: the beginning of the season for one of the Hudson Valley's biggest summer attractions.

The Hudson Valley Renegades have been a staple of entertainment in the area since their founding over 20 years ago. In the years since they began as a Texas Rangers' Single A affiliate, they've left the Rangers for the Tampa Bay Rays organization, produced a handful of phenomenal big league baseball players (Josh Hamilton, Evan Longoria, Ryan Dempster, and Scott Podsednik have all been all-stars, while Wade Davis is currently among the most dominant relievers in the game), and, oh yeah, sold out almost every game they've played.

But baseball is only part of the equation. The reason the 'Gades are so beloved is because of their connection to the community and the fun, exciting atmosphere of their games, much of which has nothing to do with the sport at all, but instead the games and antics provided by longtime PA announcer and Vice President of the Renegades, Rick Zolzer. He stopped by to talk about all of these things and more as the Gades prepare for their 2015 campaign on Monday night.

Before we get to the interview, let's all enjoy this moment wherein I was a player for the Renegades. Okay, so I threw out the first pitch. Close enough.

Throwing out the first pitch at tonight's @HVRenegades game. I hope to make the 40 man roster. @zolz31
