The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney Throws Out Opening Day Pitch
Working in radio has afforded me the opportunity to do all sorts of things I've always dreamed about doing. Something I always thought would be cool is throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game. As a huge fan of the game, and as someone who quit Little League at like, 11, throwing out the first pitch is the only reasonable way I'd get onto the field. Unless I was one of those idiots that streaks in the middle of a game or something.
Fortunately, the Hudson Valley Renegades gave me that opportunity a few seasons ago, and it was awesome:
But I have to say, it was pretty nerve-wracking. The last thing you want to do is look like a chump by falling short or airmailing it over the guy's head. Or, worse, pull a 50 Cent:
Well, Patrick Carney of the Black Keys had the same scenario, and according to MLB.com, the same concerns:
"It was nerve-wracking," Carney said with a smirk. "I wanted to keep [my hands] cold, so I had an excuse in case I totally screwed it up."
Nothing to worry about after all.
