Bill Simmons of ESPN fame shared some rumors about potential hosts that Comedy Central considered when looking for Jon Stewart's replacement.

To me, Louis seems like the oddest of that bunch. The other two--Poehler for sure, due to her tenure hosting Weekend Update--are easy for me to see in that seat. But what Louis does in his stand-up and FX show is so personal and introspective in nature that it seems like sitting behind a desk making wisecracks about news stories would run completely contrary to the style he's worked a really long time to build.

Part of me is still wondering if Comedy Central intentionally chose someone that the public didn't know so that there wouldn't be a level of expectation for him. On the more cynical hand, I'm open to the possibility that Comedy Central chose someone that no one expected anything from so that he could fail under the expectation of having to follow Jon Stewart (an unenviable position for anyone) and then they could bring in a known name to save the day.

That's right. I'm floating Daily Show conspiracy theories? WHO GON STOP ME, HA? Sorry. Sometimes I get confused and think I'm Kanye West. It's a thing I just have to live with.
