Christmas music can really seal the deal during the holidays. It helps to capture a moment in time. It can bring back old memories and it can help cement new ones. I know I have been tuning into our sister station WKXP 94.3 Lite FM for a great mix of Christmas classics. Honestly, I'm not sure what I would do if I didn't get my healthy helping of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and Eartha Kit each year. And is it really Christmas if Michael Bublé doesn't crawl out of his holiday cave to serenade us? Any time I hear any of Josh Groban or Celine Deon's Christmas covers, I absolutely melt.

As I said, music can really solidify the season. Sometimes; however, we can get burnt out by some of the same stuff over and over again. For instance, I'm not the biggest fan of the song This Christmas, and when I was doing some last-minute shopping earlier this week, I heard 8 different renditions, and none of them did it for me. Worst of all, I'll admit it is such an earworm, so I can't get it out of my head!

When that happens, I turn to some of my alternative Christmas music. These are songs that I have discovered through the years that typically don't get the same love or radio airplay as some other Christmas music. Sometimes I need a laugh, and I'll look for something humorous. Other times, I'll look for new, fresh renditions of holiday classics. When I can discover a meaningful Christmas original, it can often be such a breath of fresh air. So, in case you need a quick escape from the regular playlist, here is a Top 14 list of my favorite alternative Christmas songs!
