Volunteers Wanted – Poughkeepsie Public Library District

Last week we took a little stroll down memory lane, and I wrote about my first job in the Hudson Valley being at a local library. Since Facebook was obviously paying attention to my tales from the bookshelves, i've now been getting targeted information about upcoming library related events, so I figured it would be fitting to let you know that the Poughkeepsie Public Library is currently on the hunt for volunteers!

The Friends Bookstore, located at 141 Boardman Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie (behind the Boardman Road Library) is home to over 20,000 high quality used books, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks

Each November, the Friends host their annual Holiday book sale, and they are already looking for volunteer help!

Book knowledgeable volunteers and people who just love books are needed by the Friends to work in the Book Store on a regular basis and at the annual Holiday Book Sale in November. Some of the volunteer activities include: sorting and packing our large inventory of donated books, shelving books, cashiering and floor staffing when the store is open. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this questionnaire and/or stop by the Friends’ Book Store and speak with the manager.
