Walgreens Looking to Close More Than 600 RiteAid Stores

Over the last few months, Walgreens has been working to acquire 1,932 stores from Rite Aid. The Federal Trade Commission approval came for the buy last month.
As a part of the restructuring, Walgreens announced that they will be closing 600 Rite Aid stores. The stores that are most likely to have their doors shut are ones that are in a close physical proximity to Walgreens stores.
Here in the Hudson Valley, we have at least a dozen Walgreens and Rite Aid stores, some of those Rite Aid stores have undergone recent remodeling. Are any of these stores on the chopping block? Walgreens has yet to make the announcement as to which stores will be closed. In a press release, it was mentioned those decisions will not be made until the beginning of 2018.

What ever happened to Rexall Drugs? What ever happened to the 'Mom & Pop' Drug stores in our area? Does anyone remember ever stopping in and shopping at College Pharmacy in Poughkeepsie or Molloy's Pharmacy in Hyde Park?
