‘Widespread’ Cases of the Flu Jumps Dramatically Across New York
Confirmed cases of the flu are rising at alarming rates across the Hudson Valley and New York State.
In the last week, there were 5,227 laboratory-confirmed influenza reports across New York State, according to the latest report from the New York State Health Department. That's a 38% increase from one week ago.
The number of New Yorkers hospitalized by the flu during the past week was 786 a 12% increase from the last report.
Sixty-one counties in New York reported confirmed cases of influenza over the past week, including every county in the Hudson Valley, according to the New York State Health Department.
Below is a list of the number of confirmed cases of influenza in each Hudson Valley County from the past week.
- Westchester County: 317
- Rockland County: 111
- Orange County: 85
- Sullivan County: 35
- Dutchess County: 27
- Putnam County: 22
- Ulster County: 11
The New York State Health Department categorized Influenza activity level as "widespread," marking the sixth straight week that widespread activity has been reported.
Doctors continue to remind everyone to get their flu shot.
