Each year, kick-ass women unite to celebrate International Women's Day, and today, March 8th, happens to be that day, so cheers ladies, here's to us!

Did a little research on the history of the day, and according to internationalwomensday.com,

International Women's Day (IWD) has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Prior to this the Socialist Party of America, United Kingdom's Suffragists and Suffragettes, and further groups campaigned for women's equality.

The campaign theme of #IWD2019 is #balanceforbetter, with the main question being, how can you help forge a more gender balanced world?  Think about that, what are you doing/what could you be doing to assist in closing that gap?

I took #balanceforbetter a step further, and in a different direction, and i'm sure many other Hudson Valley women may be on the same page, creating balance in your own life.  Sometimes, plain and simple, balance is hard.  I'm a mom (of a strong little lady), a wife, work full time and part time, want to make sure that i'm balancing all of those things while still finding time for myself, my hobbies and interests, friends and family, and the list goes on and on.

I decided to do a few things this weekend, in honor of #IWD2019, just for me, and couldn't be more excited to be surrounded by amazing and influential women at these events.  Saturday i'm heading into the city for the 3rd annual Women In Radio event, and i'm so pumped to mingle with other incredible ladies in the field of radio.  I'm sure some of them, like me, were told it would be a struggle to make it in radio as a woman... Sunday i'm going to the Mom University Conference, and if you read my post yesterday, you know how excited I am for that event.

What i'd like to know is, what are you doing to celebrate YOURSELF and other amazing women for International Women's Day 2019?  Let us know, and here's to incredible Hudson Valley women as we celebrate #IWD2019!
