Think about your favorite band, or your favorite album, or the best concert you ever went to. Chances are, it wasn't just the band members who were involved in putting it together. A new documentary is coming out called Hired Gun that explores those often anonymous musicians that are at the heart of the music industry, and its writer comes from right here in the Hudson Valley.

Tim Calandrello from Nanuet recently gave an interview to the Poughkeepsie Journal about the movie, which tells the story of musicians that have played with big-name acts like Michael Jackson, Metallica, Bon Jovi and more. Calandrello is no stranger to music documentaries. In addition to writing, editing, and producing Hired Gun, he also helped tell the story of the Foo Fighters in 2011's Foo Fighters: Back and Forth.

Calandrello describes a hired gun as somebody who is one of the most talented people in the business, but who rarely get the spotlight because their job is to make the other members of the band look better. Hopefully, the new movie will go a long way to shine a light on an underappreciated group of people.

Hired Gun will eventually be released on Blu-Ray and DVD, but it will be available on most major video-on-demand platforms starting August 1st.
