
Brush Fire Reported Near Breakneck Ridge
Update, 10PM: The Fishkill Police Department reported several vehicles were destroyed near Breakneck Ridge after a brush fire started near the mountain. Several police and fire departments from Dutchess and Putnam counties responded to the scene. All hikers safely came down from the mountain, according to the Fishkill Police Department.
On Monday evening, the Fishkill Police Department shared stunning and heartbreaking photos of the Breakneck Ridge fire as seen alongside the bright Worm Full Moon.

Many Hudson Valley residents have reported seeing smoke rising from the lower parts of the Hudson Highlands near Breakneck Ridge. According to the New York State Parks Police, this was not part of a controlled burn.
Photos taken from the scene indicate that the fire may have started near a parking lot and spread to surrounding areas. Witnesses claim some cars in the lot may have caught fire as well. An eyewitness at the scene of the fire also said multiple fire trucks were at on hand trying to contain the situation.
No injuries have been reported yet and we will keep you updated with further details as we get them.
In September of 2019, Sugarloaf Mountain, which is near Breakneck Ridge and also located within Hudson Highlands State Park, was subject to a brush fire that consumed over 38 acres and took days to contain.
