For only $20, you can hop on the train, a vintage train, and take a nostalgic 90-minute scenic ride through the heart of the Catskills. During a time when pretty much everything feels much too expensive, this is an affordable mini-getaway that winds you through 1600s farmlands and mountain forests.

The train departs from the Stockade District in Kingston, hitting rewind on the clock and heading back to some of the oldest farmlands in America, including the Hurley Flats and then 'the train crosses a scenic trestle over Esopus Creek where the tracks hover just above sparkling trout waters.' From there, the ride takes passengers up Hurley Mountain with breathtaking views.

Now Booking For Spring 2026

Following the Easter Bunny Express rides leading up to the holiday, you can book for their May dates, and prepare to be pulled by a vintage 1951 diesel locomotive through the Catskills countryside.

For those who want the full experience, consider riding and taking in the historic scenery via an open-air car. There ae also vintage coaches for those who would rather not feel the wind in their hair.
