Popular Wappingers Entertainment Spot DC Sports Now Closed
Following a ten year tenure of serving the Hudson Valley as a family sports and entertainment complex (and as a hotspot for kids, Fun Central for many many years prior), this Route 9 landmark has officially closed their doors, effective immediately.
An official announcement was made late Sunday evening (April 26th), and naturally, the response from Hudson Valley residents has been overwhelmingly sad.

Wappingers’ DC Sports Permanently Closes
After a decade of operation, DC Sports in Wappingers has to bid farewell to its patrons.
We extend our deepest gratitude for the countless birthday celebrations, corporate gatherings, countless mini golfers and the joy brought by bands in the sand. On behalf of the Pizzarelli family, we express our heartfelt thanks to the community for the cherished memories.
The statement above is how the news began circulating about the closure of one of the area's most popular spots to bring the kids, host birthday parties, catch live music.
Owners went on to share that some changes took place over the last month that were 'out of our control' and thus they decided it was time to move on. They did share how sorry they were for how sudden it happened, 'again our apologizes for immediate closing.'
They did, however, leave us on a bit of a cliffhanger, noting that volleyball and corn hole activities will continue at a new location which hasn't been shared as of yet.
Back in 2024, the owner of the property that DC Sports sits on, placed the lot on the market. The listing indicated that the property was 'free to be used to new opportunities such as retail, dining, entertainment, or other commercial ventures. As of late, the property is no longer listed on the initial site, but had been on a listing as of January 2026 on Realmo.
Fun Central Turned DC Sports
Back in 2016, a spot that any kid who grew up in Dutchess County was all to familiar with, Fun Central, shut their doors. The castle, the bumper boats, batting cages, and more birthday parties than you can probably remember, Fun Central was like a rite of passage in the area.
Following the Fun Central closure, a new owner took over the site, made some improvements, and the facility reopened as DC Sports. DC Sports became a 'family entertainment center' along with a sports bar with plenty of screens to watch the games, along with live music and those batting cages became a volleyball court.
DC Sports went on to offer both indoor and outdoor mini golf (indoor offering glow golf), a golf simulator, volleyball, rock climbing, basketball, corn hole, an elevated arcade, expanded food options, and eventually traded the bumper boats for bounce houses.
This story is still developing and will be updated once more information becomes available.
