Here’s How To ‘Sunday Funday’ With A Local Shelter Dog
You know we love the opportunity to not only share feel good stories (usually revolving around animals) with you, but we also want to make sure you know how to get in on the 'happy news' action locally.
One prominent animal rescue is once again offering the community to get involved and spend some time with a shelter dog.

Apply To Spend Your Sunday With A Shelter Dog
Perhaps adopting a dog just isn't in the cards at the moment, that's ok, but you can still give back to a local shelter and spend time with a dog looking for a forever home.
This Sunday, October 5th, CARE of DC is once again offering 'Doggy Day Out,' where community members can apply to spend the day with a shelter dog. Imagine getting to cuddle and hang out with this cutie pie?
There's a google doc link application where those interested in participating in 'Doggy Day Out' can provide their information, and then pick up a pup between 10am and 11am on Sunday. The CARE of DC team will provide you with all the supplies for you doggy-day, and drop off is any time up until 4pm. Please note this is a first come, first serve event, and more times than not, they end up having more volunteers than doggies, so plan accordingly for pickup!
Doggy Day Out Details
The application itself to participate in 'Doggy Day Out' with CARE of DC is simple, but there are some restrictions outlined such as not introducing any of the rescue dogs to other animals during their day out (unless you're serious about adopting and then plans need to be configured with the CARE team for a meet and greet). You must be 21 and sign a waiver agreeing to the guidelines and protocols for the day.
There's also an area on the application where you are able to indicate a preference of one of their currently available pups to spend the day with. If you have no preference, you can share what size dog you're most comfortable with, or plans you have for your day out so that CARE can find you the perfect pup to spend time with.
