Father-Son Concert Adventure at Bethel Woods: A Night to Remember
As a father, taking my 10 year old son Ryan to his first concert was a memorable milestone. Especially on Father's Day weekend. We decided to make it an unforgettable experience by going glamping at Bethel Woods, where the accommodations were nothing short of spectacular. Our tent was conveniently located just minutes from the stage, perched atop a hill with a near perfect view.
The evening began with Hearty Har, fronted by Shane and Tyler Fogerty, sons of the legendary John Fogerty. Their modern psychedelic garage rock set was electrifying, showcasing their inherited musical talent and energetic stage presence.
Following them, George Thorogood and the Destroyers took the stage, celebrating their 50th year in music with a powerful performance. Hits like "Bad to the Bone," "I Drink Alone," and "Who Do You Love?" resonated through the crowd, backed by a dazzling display of visuals on a massive screen behind them.
After a brief intermission, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as John Fogerty himself appeared. At 79, his energy was infectious, and he delighted the audience with stories and his timeless classics from Creedence Clearwater Revival. Hits like "Bad Moon Rising" and "Born on the Bayou" brought cheers from the crowd, and seeing my son Ryan dance and clap along, especially during these iconic songs, was a heartwarming sight.
Bethel Woods, with its historical significance and natural beauty, provided the perfect backdrop for this special father-son outing. The music, the atmosphere, and the shared experience created memories that will last a lifetime. As we packed up the next morning, I couldn't help but reflect on how this concert was not just about the music, but about bonding with my son. It was a night of joy, discovery, and connection, reminding me of the power of music to bring people together, across generations and beyond words.
