How To Volunteer For NY’s I Love My Park Day, May 6
New York State has a thing called "I Love My Park Day" which teams up volunteers with parks (historic areas and public areas) in their area to show the park some love.
Here are the areas that will be participating in the clean up on May 6:
Dutchess | Stony Kill Farm and Environmental Education Center | Manor House parking lot, Farmstead Lane, Wappingers Falls NY | Time: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Rain Date: May 6 Project: We will be cleaning up and collecting trash on the grass and fence line along 9D and around the property near the barn. We have orange vests for volunteers. Appropriate for 13 and up. Please bring garden gloves and water. |
Sullivan | Mongaup Pond Campground & Day Use Area | Park at Caretaker's Cabin, Mongaup Pond Rd., Livingston Manor NY | Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Project 1: Campsite clean-up. All ages are welcome. Please bring water, snacks, and work gloves. Project 2: Assembling Picnic Tables. Adults 18 and over only. Please bring water, snacks, and work gloves. Project 3: Planting trees/shrubs. All ages welcome. Please bring water, snacks, and garden gloves. |
Ulster | Catskill Interpretive Center (link leaves DEC website) | 5096 Route 28, Mount Tremper NY | Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Project: Volunteers at this event will plant trees, install riparian vegetation, help with the removal of invasive species, and partake in some light trail maintenance. Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for planting activities and bring water, snacks, and garden gloves. All ages are welcome. |
