Hudson Valley inmates will get chances to take colleges classes while they are incarcerated. Inmates at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla will get an opportunity to take classes in conjunction with Manhattan College, where they will be able to take 3 credit courses. If the inmates do well in the classes while they are in jail, there may be opportunities for them to apply to the college upon release and receive scholarships for tuition. .

According to an article, dated August 2017 in the New York Times, New York inmates are currently eligible to take college classes in about half of New Yorks 54 prisons, but the cost of the classes comes from private funding.

Where will the money come from for the new programs? Will there be any limits put on the prisoners as to which classes they can take?
