Being single sucks. Being broke and single is worse.

According to research done by 24/7 Wallstreet, Yahoo Finance and Match.Com the cost of the average date in New York is the highest across the US. Sure it can be argued that a lot of their information came from New York City, but on average according to their research dates in NY cost...

$297.27.

That's almost $300 just for a night out.

How did they get to this answer? 24/7 Wallstreet explains that they had an index on how much a date costs in each state. Then:

The index was applied to the national average cost of a basket of goods and services related to the typical date. The basket consists of the average U.S. price of a liter of wine in June 2018 from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average U.S. price of two movie tickets in 2017 from the National Association of Theatre Owners, and the national average cost of two restaurant dinners in 2016 from a Zagat survey.

If you're looking to save some money on your next date in the Hudson Valley region there are a ton of free activities to do.

You could take your date for a stroll on the Walkway Over the Hudson or visit one of the many historical sites around town. Maybe a picnic near the Hudson River?

Whatever you chose just know that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg in the Hudson Valley to go on a successful date.
