It is always hard to see a well-established community restaurant close their doors, especially after being around for more than three decades. The new year, though it has brought some new and exciting local business announcements to the Hudson Valley, has also come with it's fair share of heartache when it comes to business closures, and that is what recently happened in New Paltz.

Staple New Paltz Pizza Spot Shutters

Following 35 'wonderful years,' as Maria Lisanti, owner of LaBella Pizza Bistro (and staff) shared some news via social media, 'the time has come for me to say goodbye and step into retirement from Labella Pizza Bistro.'

LaBella, on the corner of Main Street and South Manheim Blvd, has been serving New Paltz for decades, and was actually the first place I ever grabbed a slice as a first year student at SUNY New Paltz many many years ago. Sadly, ownership has announced that is is time to retire.

Maria reinforced her appreciation for the support and loyalty she received over the years, and for trusting in LaBella for all these years.

It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve this community. What began as a business quickly became so much more- a place where families gathered, friendships grew, memories were made, and delicious food was served! I was fortunate enough to enjoy all these moments, and I will forever cherish the friendships, laughter, and memories we’ve shared over the years. To all of you who walked through the doors over the years, Thank You!

Though no official announcement about the future of the business, or what might happen with the storefront next, Maria did share the following which is promising:

As I retire and this chapter comes to a close, I look forward to the future of the new business and its continued service to our community.
