Sunday night Cleveland and Golden State squared off in game 5 of the NBA Finals and Metallica kicked things off in patriotic fashion.

James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet performed a rockin' version of the Star Spangled Banner before what turned out to be a victory for the Warriors. Metallica updated their website earlier in the day to get the word out about the performance and to pledge support for their home teams.

Metallica formed in '81 in Los Angeles and have long supported their home state teams. The San Francisco Giants have now had 3 'Metallica Days', while earlier this season the San Jose Sharks had a 'Metallica Night'.

With last night's victory the Warriors are now up 3-2 to Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
