A park in Ulster County is issuing a warning to guests after they reviewed recent trail camera footage from their preserve.

Mill Brook Preserve in New Paltz, NY consists of more than 100 acres of "forever wild" land for residents to explore... but recent activity has led officials to issue a reminder to all park guests about danger that could be lurking around the corner.

Warning for Dog Owners at Mill Brook Preserve in New Paltz, NY

The warning wasn't focused on the humans enjoying the park, but rather the dogs they bring along. A common trend, which goes against park policy, could spell trouble for both beloved pets as well as the wildlife that calls Mill Brook Preserve their home.

"Large Wild Animals" at Mill Brook Preserve in New Paltz, NY

"Every time you walk in the Mill Brook Preserve, you are entering the home of a number of large wild animals... Just as you would not like dogs to run rampant through your house, please don’t inflict that on the home of these animals", began a recent Facebook post (below).

Which Wild Animals Live in Mill Brook Preserve?

The long list of predators living in Mill Brook Preserve include foxes and fishers, as seen above. While these animals generally avoid human (and canine) contact, Mill Brook Preserve noted that current conditions may make that impossible with off-leash dogs.

A fisher den has been observed less than 200 feet from main trails in the preserve, making even leashed dogs curious when they catch their scent. If visitors reported dogs pulling on leashes to get a closer look, one can imagine what could happen if the animal was off-leash.
