It has been an incredible month of new music that we have featured for you on our new music show, Sunday Studio Cuts, each Sunday night at 10pm on WRRV. Every Sunday night we give you a full hour of new music including some of your favorite WRRV artists and the new tracks they're releasing, some new-to-you bands and artists that you'll then add to your favorites playlist, and even some local artists.  Let's take a look at what we introduced you to recently in the world of new WRRV music thanks to Darkside Records.

Avril Lavigne (f. Travis Barker):  Bite Me

Avril is back, baby, and in a big way.  Her new track, featuring Travis Barker, called Bite Me, has us all flashing back to that classic Avril Lavigne sound we were introduced to nearly 20 years ago.  I was lucky enough to get some time with Avril in early December to talk about her signing on with Travis Barker's record label, the upcoming tour, the 20th anniversary of her debut album, and a ton more.  Take a listen to the interview, here.

Gayle: abcdefu

Next, GAYLE, a 17 year old singer from Nashville, giving us an ultimate post-breakup song that talks about empowering women.  The song actually gained popularity over the summer from, you guessed it, a TikTok trend. Some people didn't really believe it was a real song, but it's definitely real and we are loving it!

Inhaler:  Cheer Up Baby

An Irish rock band from Dublin, Inhaler gained popularity in 2020 and released their debut album It Won't Always Be Like This - they've done some European touring this year and have announced a US leg for early 2022.  If you're wondering about where they got the name Inhaler from, it has to do with one of the band members teenage asthma.

Matisyahu:  Chameleon

Giving us a tease of his upcoming self-titled album, Matisyahu released Chameleon this fall.  The new album, his first in nearly 5 years, is due out on March 4th and marks his 7th release.  According to reviews, the new album goes back to his classic themes and roots, focusing on optimism, and becoming a better version of oneself.

This past Sunday, we did an awesome hour of holiday themed songs and covers from some of your favorite WRRV artists, i'll be sure to put that list together for you to, but, until next time, be sure to check out the Sunday Studio Cuts show every Sunday night from 10-11pm, and some exclusive artist interviews on our Studio Cuts podcast, here!
