So here you are thinking that you won't have to think about your air conditioner until sometime in May or June of 2017. Well, you are wrong. LG has put out a voluntary recall of three of their portable air conditioner models.

Which ones do you have to worry about and why?

Here are the model #'s (all of which are in the 7,000 and 8,000 BTU range):

  • LP0711WNR
  • LP0813WNR
  • LP0814WNR

Why are they being recalled? LG has received four reports of the air conditioners over heating and catching on fire. The fires caused reported damage of over $380,000. It goes without saying, that if you have one of the above models, that you should make sure it is unplugged and if you have been using it stop. Sure, you might be trying to create a special penguin display as a part of your neighborhoods winter wonderland, but better safe than sorry on this one.

If you have one of these units, (predominatly sold at Home Depots across the US and Canada) call LG at 855-791-0808 and they will schedule a repair for you. You can also submit your info online at www.lgportableacrecall.com
