DFR & Emergency Response Efforts in Ramapo
While the Ramapo Police Department continues to improve community safety and public service delivery, the integration and rollout of the DFR program will help expand their efforts, and meet the ever changing needs of the community.
The news of this new initiative comes off of the heels of concern over drone sightings across several states, New York and the Hudson Valley included.
The Ramapo Police Department will be responsible for the management of the DFR program, and will have two 'Paladin Drone Base Stations' that will have remotely operated drones. In their press release, Ramapo Police shared,
the primary goal of the program is to act as a 'force multiplier,' enabling officers to quickly gather critical situational data during emergency responses, improving decision-making in real-time. This technology allows for rapid aerial assessments of complex or hazardous environments, which can be crucial in high-stakes situations.
Utilizing drones for emergency response efforts will allow first responders to more efficiently identify potential threats or hazards from the air, that may not be visible from the ground. Examples include arial views assisting with locating missing persons, tracking suspects, and providing live situational awareness during active emergencies. These tactics will allow law enforcement to be more informed in their decision making during emergency stuaitons.
