The Kaleidoscope Kid at WRRV Sessions June 2022

It was the perfect setting for live music. The sun was shining, a beautiful breeze was coming off the Hudson River, and the beer was flowing at Newburgh Brewing Company when The Kaleidoscope Kid took the stage for June's WRRV Sessions.

The Kaleidoscope Kid, an exciting new act out of Los Angeles, shared that this was his first time in the Hudson Valley, and said that he really appreciated the "grounding" feelings he got from the rolling mountains and forests here in New York, especially when compared to the near-constant sensory-overload experiences in LA.

Meet the Kaleidoscope Kid

Originally from Arizona, the Kaleidoscope Kid spent some time talking on-air before his performance, and shared his unique journey that led to him touring the county. Before his single Watermelon Kisses hit the radio, he was "living in the woods" in rural Arizona, and creating music without an audience. An autoimmune disease and time in the hospital led him to focus more intently on a music career, and soon after he was in Los Angeles signing a record deal.

The Kaleidoscope Kid is one of many examples of artists who have performed at WRRV Sessions that have put their art, and a desire for a genuine connection to their audience, first. His musical style ranges from upbeat summer love songs like Watermelon Kisses, to more punk and even rap-driven songs that make him one of the most stylistically-diverse acts ever to grace the Sessions stage.
