Tractor-Trailer Nearly Split in Half by Wire in Hudson Valley

A dangerous scene recently unfolded when a tractor-trailer was nearly split in half by a low hanging phone wire.

The scary photo, which can be seen above and below, was posted on the Sullivan County, NY Government Facebook page. The image was taken Friday around 11 a.m., during Winter Storm Riley on CR 71, Ferndale Road, in Sullivan County.

The photo shows a tractor trailer's roof that was ripped off and the trailer nearly split in half by a long hanging phone wire.

While this image was taken on Friday, it's possible Wednesday's storm could cause similar damage. If you have to drive, be careful of the roads and your surroundings.

Like Friday, today's forecast calls for a lot of heavy wet snow. Heavy wet snow could bring down trees and/or power lines across the Hudson Valley and cause more power outages.

Four days after Winter Storm Riley, 93% of New Yorkers still without power are located in Dutchess, Putnam, Sullivan and Westchester counties.

Because of that alarming stat, Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered a full review into power failures after Winter Storm Riley.

Also, be advised that a number of vehicles are banned from driving in the Hudson Valley today.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued the ban while announcing a travel advisory is in effect for all of the Hudson Valley.

All tractor trailers, tandem trailers, buses, box trucks, and other high-profile vehicles are banned from driving on the New York State Thruway, Interstate 84, 684, 287, and Route 17.
