New York State Department of Health has made it official and extended WellCares contract to continue running "NYS Child Health Plus" until September of 2019.

The president of WellCare of New York, John J Burke,  had this to say about the contract extension:

"We look forward to continuing to provide quality, lower-cost health care solutions for children whose families do not qualify for Medicaid. We have been serving the Child Health Plus program for more than eight years and look forward to continuing to work with the New York Department of Health to ensure children have access to the care they need to get and stay healthy."

The Child Health Plus program provides health care to low income families who are just above the maximums for Medicare. The program is open to children ages 0 to 19 who do not have health insurance and once a part of the program, families will pay for medical care based on their income. Benefits of the program include doctors visits and immunizations.
